Education Consultant

My commitment to teaching—from leading multiple experiential learning projects to mentoring undergraduate and graduate research—has focused on producing the next generation of student scholars and leaders. Throughout my career, I have worked to break down the barriers that potentially limit working-class first-generation college students from fully engaging in campus life.

First-Generation Student Ally Certificate Program

This professional development program contains multiple learning modules designed to train faculty and staff to serve as allies to first-generation working-class college students. In raising awareness about the specific needs of this student population, each module fosters dialogue about creating social belonging for long-term academic success. Topics include:

  • Unpacking terminology
  • Building cultural capital
  • Navigating the university system
  • Exploring alliances across campus
  • Developing student programming

Other professional development workshops include:

  • Teaching service-learning
  • Integrating digital humanities into the curriculum
